“Pěkný číslo” means “nice number” in Czech, and the idea for this unique Czech beer,
inspired by the numbe π (~3,14), came into being at the Charles University Faculty of Mathematics and Physics (MFF UK, or “Matfyz”).
After two years of experimenting in their free time, the people at Matfyz created the irrationally good „πvO“ (“pi-vo”, i.e. “beer”), in cooperation with the Research Institute of Brewing and Malting. The beer was given the name “Pěkný číslo”.
The guys at Matfyz are really good at counting things.

The Charles University Faculty of Mathematics and Physics is a respected educational institution with outstanding research results. Matfyz is synonymous with excellence in both teaching and research. Across its five premises in Prague it offers degree programmes in mathematics, physics and computer science, as well as teaching qualifications. Graduates of Matfyz can be found at numerous top companies and prestigious universities across the globe.

Basic information:
The Pivovar Ferdinand brewery was founded by Archduke Franz Ferdinand d’Este in 1897 and utilizes classic brewing technology of boiling house, fermentation tank and cellar. Pěkný číslo is a unique, dry-hopped Czech beer inspired by the number π (~ 3.14). Pivovar Ferdinand produces the beer using its own malt and hops. Pěkný číslo has an amber colour with a slight hint of caramel, a pleasing malty taste and mild tones of cantaloupe with traces of mango and thyme. It has a strong hoppy aroma and yeast. All of the beer’s properties are the result of the traditional brewing processes that are so important to Pivovar Ferdinand.
